Helen has been sketching and painting since her early childhood in Trinidad, the West Indies. As an adult her artistic pursuits still include drawing and painting in several mediums. Helen's painting has evolved from self-teaching and from studies with various artists in the many places she has lived. For a number of years she has studied the figure with Jerry Coulter of James Madison University, and she has recently completed a series of paintings inspired by her travels to England, Belgium and Italy.
She is associated with the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts, Liberty Town Arts Workshop, and The North Windsor Artist's Group and is represented by the Art First Gallery in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her other associations have been with the Beaufort, South Carolina Art Society and the Sothern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont.
Helen considers herself a colorist and is interested in creating the basic form of a piece of art with color, texture and composition.
