A Glimpse of a Pond

Kristi has been creating art (of sorts) since early childhood…like many of us.  Eyes were seen throughout the house; luckily, she eventually found paper to be just as satisfying a surface for her creations.  Those crayon eyes evolved into faces brightened by life-like eyes of great depth and emotion.  Kristi’s love of art only grew through the guidance of wonderfully inspiring teachers in high school.  She was one of the select few to attend Governor’s School of the Fine Arts in the summer of 1989.  After high school, Kristi received her Associates in Liberal Arts—Specializing in Studio Art (1992) and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art at University of Mary Washington (1995).

Once out of college, this young artist found various jobs that helped develop new artistic skills.  She worked in photography, framing, graphic design, sign creation, and, most recently, supported the Navy through her graphics in Dahlgren, Virginia.  She has had various commissions while working these jobs; such as, portraiture sketches and paintings, invitations, cards, graphics and murals (both fantasy and realistic in nature) covering such mediums as pencil, color pencil, pastels, charcoal and acrylic.  The past four years have been the most productive for this stay-at-home mom.  Working out of her home since having children has helped launch her art career.

In the summer of 2005, Kristi had her first solo exhibit at The Loft in downtown Fredericksburg.  She also joined Art First Gallery in September of the same year.  Since then she has grown and enjoyed learning more about the community.  She had her first featured show at the gallery in May 2006 with Ruth Ann Loving.  Other shows include:  Solo Show at Bistro Bethem, April-May 2007; Show with Pam Allen at The Third Floor, Fredericksburg, May 2008; Solo Show at Virginia Wine Experience, Fredericksburg, December 2008; Show with Pam Allenat Art First, September 2009.
