"Though I am a painter, I sometimes think 2 dimensions just aren’t enough. So I also twist wire, glass and found objects into hanging sculptures suspended in air.
I am inspired by art history, Renaissance Saint paintings in particular. My most recent work, a series of abstract night scapes began as test boards for my large figurative paintings. Using rich color, metal leaf, patina and oil glazes in a process discovered through experimentation, I build my paintings layer upon layer. The result is a luminuous aged effect, reminiscent of the holy paintings that so influence my work."
