"Creating art, for me, is a fulfillment of a lifelong dream. It is my passion and a privilege. I feel that nothing in this world is ordinary through the eyes of an artist. My goal is to translate what I see into works of art for others to enjoy or contemplate. I seek what is true or special in my subject matter using the language of color, texture, shape and value, and of course paint and some unique materials, to translate not only what is real but emotions and thoughts from within my soul. The result is that not only do I paint realistically but sometimes abstractly. Now that a special time in my life has arrived I paint, study, teach art and strive to make the world a more beautiful place with color. I have discovered that my ability to use color is a gift from God and that it is intuitive. You may go to my web page, luvnart.com, to see What's New and where I am exhibiting. You may also contact me at info@luvnart.com. I hope to hear from you. I work and teach in LuvnArt Studio #2 at Liberty Town Arts Workshop, 916 Liberty Street, Fredericksburg, VA. Go to the web site libertytownarts.com for hours and directions. You are invited to visit at any time."

Ruth Ann Loving was born in the small town of Shevlin, Minnesota on the edge of the wilderness not far from the Canadian border. She lived on a farm during her childhood and was immersed in the natural world. Later in life she attended Rappahannock and Germanna Community Colleges and transferred to Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA where she majored in studio art and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1989 with a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree. While at Mary Washington she received three scholarships and the senior award in sculpture. She also attended Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC and studied at the Art League in Alexandria, VA. In 2005 she received a Master Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Virginia Commonwealth University where she focused on painting. Ruth Ann continues to participate in workshops as well as teaching private lessons and exhibiting her colorful work. She is one of the original founding members of Art First Gallery where she served as secretary and president.
