October 2016

An All Members Exhibition

A wide variety of original art by the 25 artists of Art First in Fredericksburg will be on display throughout the month of October. Many members will be available on First Friday evening to share refreshments and discuss their paintings, sculpture, fine crafts or photography, as well as creativity in general.

The newest members of the gallery, Mark Dlugonski, Deborah Elaine and Tammy Hedge, exemplify the range in form that art and artists’ lives can take. Dlugonski combines a passion for photography with a full time career in software development. He uses his camera and digital technology to encourage others to notice the details in nature that “potentially go unnoticed in our daily busy lives”. For over a decade, Deborah Elaine has been an active Fredericksburg painter. Her work is also shown throughout Northern Virginia and in Richmond. Hedge sculpts in clay, while maintaining a busy family and studio. She created and curates “Monster Mash Up”, an annual project that encourages young children to share their art with adult artists, who, in turn, create art based on the children’s designs.
